after the festival

Ato no Matsuri

後の祭り

Words: Ato = after / no = genitive joshi particle / 祭り Matsuri = festival

Pronunciation: [ah-toh-noh-mah-two-rhee]

English Equivalent: The ship has sailed -- It’s too late. / No use crying over spilt milk.

Notes: Just as decorated floats are useless once the festival is over, it's pointless to regret or doing anything else for something that's already over. I could have passed the exam if I had studied harder! -- Well, it's Ato no matsuri regretting now.
